The Brewers placed LHP Chris Narveson on the DL after cutting his thumb on Tuesday. The official diagnosis is ‘left thumb lacerations’.
Manager Ron Roenicke said Narveson cut his thumb with a pair of scissors while repairing his glove before Tuesday’s game. The team bought the contract of pitcher Frankie De La Cruz from AAA Nashville.
It is expected that Zack Greinke will be bumped up from his Saturday scheduled start to pitch on Friday against Pittsburgh thanks to a team off-day on Monday.
As for De La Cruz, he isis 7-6 with a 3.88 ERA in 25 appearances with Nashville this season. He won his last outing, but allowed five runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings while walking five and fanning seven. Roenicke has not seen De La Cruz since Spring Training, though.
“Good fastball, power fastball, and he’s got a nice changeup,” Roenicke said.
It has not been announced who will start Saturday, though Marco Estrada seems to be the likely option with the ability to give the Brewers 5 or 6 solid innings.
